Mr. Joel Gibbons presents Deb Schmid with the Cardinal Newman award

Ms. Deb Schmid, LMC Director of Guidance, has been selected as the recipient of the Inaugural Cardinal Newman Award, donated by Mr. & Mrs. Joel Gibbons.  Deb graduated from Lake Michigan Catholic High School in 1975, taught at LMC for 9 years and has served the school as its Director of Guidance since 2001. 

Deb has had a positive impact on students in many different ways.  As a Guidance counselor, she makes sure students have what they need to be successful in high school and prepares them for college.  As a coach, she shows her team the value of good sportsmanship.  As Youth to Youth advisor, she educates kids on the dangers of drugs and alcohol.  As CERT advisor, she helps kids learn emergency response training in the event of a disaster.  Deb is willing to step in and help where ever she is needed.  She keeps a positive attitude no matter what is going on around her.  

Deb's commitment to the students of Lake Michigan Catholic is the reason why the administration chose her for this award.
