Audible: This curated collection of audiobooks is available for free. Be aware that this is not Audible’s full collection but high-quality selections by experts and educators. Parents will want to monitor age-appropriate choices for their students as the list includes preschool through teen titles and various genres. The selection of books in other languages is admirable, which can support our Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking families, and aid fluency for our students learning other languages.
Brainpop – 24/7 access to educational movies & quizzes. Brainpop Jr. (K-3), Brainpop (3-12), and Brainpop Espanol.
Enchanted Learning – Over 20,000 searchable articles, topical activities and crafts for preschool though upper elementary with reading level suited to 3rd grade and up. OLL has a subscription - the login ID and password were emailed to Elementary parents March 16th. If you didn't receive them, please email sfeldpausch@lmclakers.org.
EPIC!: Students - see the established teacher account in your Google Classroom. Most OLL teachers have already set up a class account, and are directing students to specific on-line books as part of their lesson plans, as well as reading lists designed for multiple levels and interests.
INTERNET ARCHIVE: This free digital library is a vast collection of everything. Be aware that the quality of the narration of the audiobook collection, LibriVox, is extremely variable - from terrible to terrific. Internet Archive is a good source for obscure and out-of-print books. A free account must be established.
Khan Academy – online resource with movies covering topics for elementary through high school.
Kidlit TV: Scroll to the “Read Out Loud” section under KidLit TV Shows for their story collection but don’t miss the other links with lively enrichment activities and doable arts and crafts tied to children’s literature. This is a great place to engage a reluctant reader or just have fun exploring the “beyond words” aspects of creating and enjoying books.
Lynda.com Practice Typing: Good practice site that generates useful progress reports – text based on commonly occurring letters in your choice of languages – WARNING: lacks specific home row and reaching instruction – color-coded keys disappear when lesson begins

MobyMax - Individualized activities assigned by teachers - students have a teacher-provided login ID and password
Notre Dame Daily Gospel Reflection - it has the Gospel, often includes music links, a reflection frequently written by ND alum, a cogent prayer, and a daily saint profile. A nice resource to augemet daily Religion.
Peter’s Online Typing Course: Unglamorous, no-frills site but thorough typing for beginners – explanations are brief but complete – effective if done in order
Reading IQ: Titles, both fiction and non-fiction, are included for preschool to 6th Grade. The parental controls along with reading time tallys and incentives can be useful. Parents may establish free accounts, using the code as follows. Click "Redeem a Code" > Type in lovereading > Parent should proceed with account sign-up using the adult’s e-mail, not the student’s.
Sense-Lang: Well designed and thorough lessons that include animated tutorials with audio and visual guidance for correct home row typing – tutorials and lessons match by number – moderately customizable content – generous statistical feedback – WARNING: many ads are indistinguishable from the typing content – to avoid ads, locate features strictly from the site’s horizontal navigation bar below the masthead – Example: Tutorials > pull-down menu to choice of Keyboarding Lessons, Test, or Animated Tutor – Animated Tutor recommended
Storyline: This small collection of storybooks read by actors has been around for a long time, and is targeted toward lower elementary children. Despite its limited titles, Storyline does offer a nice multicultural list, and free activity guides are provided to prompt discussion, greater enjoyment, and deeper understanding.
Southwest Michigan Digital Library: CURRENT LIBRARY CARD NEEDED Locate your local member library through the link. Each library has a different homepage layout. In general, look for “e-books,” or “digital collection” to access the catalog. Download the Overdrive or Libby apps, and use your current library card to set up the account as needed. The apps, Overdrive (classic version runs on more devices) or Libby, will allow access to e-books (multiple formats), audiobooks, video and music collections.
TypeRacer: Type against other on-line users – great motivator – has error alert and good user feedback but little typing instruction – WARNING: takes text from novels and songs – while testing site, no objectionable content was seen – parent should check prior to use – best suited to upper el. and older students
Typing Club: Google app – 100 leveled lessons – excellent design and instruction with goals & comprehensive feedback including lesson accuracy, finger-by-finger accuracy, speed timeline – includes SAVE function
World Book Online – multimedia resources for preschool through high school, a Spanish language reference, and timeline creation tool. In addition to OLL paid encyclopedia and enrichment subscription, World Book has opened up their full catalog of e-books, as well as other products during this time.
